On The Brink – War with Iran – By Gerald Greene – Cover Design by Todd Hebertson – Professional Book Covers – Copyright 2012 All Rights Reserved
Tensions between America and Iran reach the boiling point in 2012 and result in America entering into its first declared war since World War Two. This novel, while entirely fiction, documents the hypothetical war as seen from the eyes of a close knit American military family. Both father and son bear scars from their service in the United States Marine Corps and the wife and daugther sacrifice to stand behind their men.
Mideast Relationships are Extremely Complicated
The complicated relationships between America, Israel, Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, and Russia are explored as well as the use of nuclear weapons. A major theme in the story is that wars are much easier to get into than out of. Wars often play out in unpredictable ways with tragic consequences.
The novel is a work of fiction set in the immediate time period with a look into the not so distant future. While many events in the novel seem to be playing out in today’s headlines it should be considered as entertainment not as a prediction of what might come.
In the novel reference is made to fictitious characters, such as Colonel Brad Rogers, and to public figures like President of the United States Barack Obama. Quotations attributed to President Obama and all public figures are entirely fiction. The novel blends imagined quotations from fictitious characters and public figures in an effort to add realism to a novel set in contemporary times.
In addition, reference is made to certain American, Israeli, Iranian, Chinese, and Russian military assets. The information referenced is available in the public domain and while thought by the author to be accurate may not be entirely reliable. The references are intended to add authenticity to the novel, not to serve as a reference manual for military equipment and its capabilities.
The entire novel is fictitious. However the grave, tense times that we live in are not. A real war between the United States and Iran could spin completely out of control with disastrous consequences for the entire world. Let us hope and pray that such a war never happens.
Those Who Serve in the Armed Forces Sacrifice Along With Their Families
The novel is dedicated to the men and women who serve in the armed forces of the United States of America and to their military families. Without their love and devotion for the country they serve; without their bravery and sacrifice, the freedom and democracy that Americans cherish would perish. Freedom is not free. Ask any military family and the Soldiers, Airman,Sailors, and Marines that they support.
