On The Brink – War With Iran – Kindle Book

The following quote was made by Admiral Mike Mullen, only weeks before leaving his post as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. At retirement Admiral Mullen must be voicing the concerns of many of America’s top military. They know a war with Iran would probably lead to higher casualty figures then America has experienced since the Korean War.

“We haven’t had a connection with Iran since 1979,” he said. “Even in the darkest days of the cold war, we had links to the Soviet Union. We are not talking to Iran, so we don’t understand each other. If something happens, it’s virtually assured that we won’t get it right — that there will be miscalculation, which would be extremely dangerous in that part of the world.”

Is the US on the brink of war with Iran? Are we foolish enough to take on a much more capable adversity than Iraq or the Taliban in Afghanistan?

In a new fiction novel in 2012 tensions between America and Iran reach the boiling point and result in America entering into its first declared war since World War Two. This novel, while entirely fiction, documents the hypothetical war as seen from the eyes of a close knit American military family. Both father and son bear scars from their service in the United States Marine Corps and the wife and daugther sacrifice to stand behind their men.

The novel On The Brink” explores the possibility that a war with Iran would quickly spin out of control and sweep through the Mideast. Even the eastern sea board of the United States is placed at risk. The complicated relationships between America, Israel, China, Saudi Arabia, and Russia are explored as well as the use of nuclear weapons. A major theme in the story is that wars are much easier to get into than out of. Wars often play out in unpredictable ways with tragic consequences.
